Victim Advocacy Training (VAT)

2014 Basic Victim Advocate Training (Basic VAT) July 14, 2014 through July 17, 2014

The New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission is pleased to host the 2014 Basic Victim Advocate Training. Participants will enhance their advocacy skills through curriculum designed to support core advocacy services, increase knowledge of community and statewide resources and develop a personal network of professional peers. The training will be July 14, 2014 through July 17, 2014 in Socorro at the New Mexico Technical Institute.

Pre-requisite: Participants are required to complete the Online VAT Training offered through the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center prior to the start of the Basic VAT training in July.  The online training takes an average of 14.75 hours to complete. Participants are not required to complete the entire training in one setting; the only requirement is that you complete the entire training prior to the beginning of Basic VAT on July 14, 2104.  The 19 training modules take an average of 45 to 60 minutes to complete.
