Thank you to everyone that participated in the recent VAT training. The New Mexico Victim Advocate Training is a foundation level course of study in victim assistance and victimology. The curriculum is based on the Office for Victims of Crime National Victim Assistance Academy and includes pertinent statewide information. The purpose of this training is to provide basic techniques and information to victim advocates, criminal justice personnel, and all others who have the opportunity to work with survivors of crime and the agencies who provide services to victims. Who may attend? Victim advocates with approximately six months experience in the field. Registration is on a first come first served basis. Please register as soon as possible. What is the cost? A registration fee of $350.00 will cover room and board. This may be covered by your VOCA grant. All participants are responsible for downloading the text and bringing it to the training.
